Social media discourages depth, but it’s my raison d’être.
There’s a time and place for rapid-fire clips for dopamine junkies, but Hyperactive Ghost offers depth, connection, and unapologetic confessionalism. The numbers are lying to all of us; the numbers representing our digital footprints are proving to be little more than useless vanity metrics.
Most of us aren’t ready to shred our social media and delete our streaming accounts, but we’re definitely over working in the digital mines for the company scrip of “exposure.” It’s not just musicians; it’s every art form you can imagine.
I’m a Lit PhD who works with post-modern definitions of “text,” a rhetorician in love with all things multimodal, and a lover of live music, which I sometimes watch through a lens. If nothing else, a few dollars a month gets you something to read.
